Does home insurance cover flooding?
Things like the weather can be unpredictable and whether from heavy rain, frozen pipes, or escape of water due to faulty plumbing, flooding and water damage can happen.
We offer comprehensive cover on our standard Zurich Home Insurance product including where there is loss or water damage to your buildings and contents as a result of escape of water from any fixed domestic water or heating installation, including the escape of water from any washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, or fixed fish tank.
We also cover loss or water damage as a result of flood which is the escape of water from the normal confines of any natural or artificial water course (other than water tanks, apparatus or pipes) or lake, reservoir, canal or dam or inundation from the sea whether resulting from storm or otherwise, on our standard Zurich Home Insurance product, however it is not covered on our Zurich Ex-Flood home Insurance product or if shown as excluded on your Schedule.
It is important to note that not all Zurich Home Insurance policies have the same level of cover, so please check your Policy Booklet and Schedule to confirm the level of cover under your policy. Alternatively, you can contact our dedicated Customer Service Team on 0818 400 700 who will be happy to confirm what cover is available under your policy.
Reducing risk
There are some weather hazards that you can’t avoid, but you can put measures in place to help reduce the risk of a water leak or damage. Simple steps taken now could limit the damage and distress in the long-term.
