Planned sale of Green REIT

What impact will the planned sale of Green REIT have and what do Zurich customers need to know?

Zurich’s Fund of REITs invests in a selection of Irish REITs and the Green REIT currently makes up more than 60% of the fund.

As you may have seen recently in the press, the Green REIT has been put up for sale with a number of parties interested in buying it. As a result of the impending sale and the undoubted long term uncertainty it will create, we have reluctantly taken the decision to close the Fund of REITs.

What do customers need to do?

As of today, we have removed the Fund of REITs as a fund option and we will not accept any new investments or switches into the fund. This is a precursor to us closing the fund in September.

In August we will be writing to policyholders invested in the Fund of REITs to give them notice of our intention to close the fund. We will explain to them that, if no action is taken, we will automatically switch their investment from the Fund of REITs and redirect future contributions (where applicable) into the Zurich Cash Fund.

We will be encouraging customers to contact their broker as this may be a good opportunity to review their investment funds.

*Note on the Zurich Property Fund: The Zurich Property Fund currently has a small allocation to the Green REIT and we plan to replace this with alternative assets.
