Big Rugby Run supports 'Feed the Heroes'
The Big Rugby Run was held on Saturday 9th May and saw the Irish grassroots rugby community come together in relay teams of rugby players, from current or past teams, from minis under 10s age group up to retired veterans to run or walk a virtual relay over the half marathon (21km) or full marathon (42km) distance, whilst still observing the Government guidelines regarding social distancing and staying within 2km of home. Each team was set the challenge of raising a minimum of €50 for Feed the Heroes.
The initiative raised over €40,000 for Feed the Heroes, as they continue to #fuelthefrontline fighting the battle against COVID-19 across Ireland. Utilising their own COVID-19 response fund and partner matching policy, the Z Zurich Foundation have matched 50% of the funds raised, adding €20,000 to the total.
Feed the Heroes is a fundraising movement that is doing amazing work #fuellingthefrontline through the provision of essential and nutritious meals to frontline heroes fighting COVID-19 in Ireland. To date, they have raised over €1 million from over 18,500 donations, serving nearly 140,000 meals across more than 125 locations around the country.
